My approach to therapy is rooted in the belief that every person is fundamentally whole. However, trauma and emotional wounds cloud our natural ability to feel at peace with ourselves and with our lives. I approach therapy as a collaborative process, guiding my clients to uncover their own deep wisdom, healing, and aliveness.
My approach to therapy is direct, kind, non-judgmental and accommodating. I use a present-moment focus that invites my clients to explore their thoughts and feelings in new ways, listening to the messages from within. I also help my clients connect to their bodies and develop deeper presence in themselves. Through this process, clients develop tools for working with intense emotions and getting out of anxiety loops.
I have specialized training in Somatic Experiencing and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) trauma modalities that work directly with the nervous system and brain to process trauma. As trauma is released from the body, clients naturally begin to experience openness, flexibility, and vitality.
In my own life, I spent years living at a meditation retreat center and learning how embodiment and mindfulness can help unwind emotional wounding and trauma. This experience ultimately led me to my career as a therapist. I have also studied movement and dance-based healing traditions and facilitate a practice called Social Meditation that teaches us how to use meditation principles for deeper connection and authenticity with others.
My specialties include trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, panic disorder and attachment. I also have years of experience working with young adults on the autism spectrum and as a hospice grief counselor.
